Ever since I was a very young kid I’ve been watching professional wrestling. As a kid it was a form of escapism for me and then I started watching it with my dear grandmother until she passed away. I’ve considered wrestling as a special bond between me and my grandmother so I have always continued watching professional wrestling throughout the years into adulthood. However these days it’s not so much the wrestling but the business side of things that keep me entertained these days. The business side of wrestling is pretty cutthroat and can be just as entertaining if not more than actual wrestling these days. Oh how I miss the old days of the WWE/WWF and especially ECW, those were the glory years of true wrestling.

WrestleMania Random Thoughts

Well it’s that day today; WrestleMania is officially couple hours away. To be quite honest I was going to today’s WrestleMania not anticipating very much at all unlike other passed WrestleMania’s. Really the only match that had me looking forward to it was triple H versus Sting however within the last week thinks have changed dramatically. Brock Lesnar finally made a decision and re-signed with the WWE and has said goodbye to mixed martial arts (MMA) forever. You have to give it to the man he weighed his options, he played the game just right and most people would say he made the best choice for him his family and his health.

So since this has happened the main event for WrestleMania is now completely up in the air. Before this happened it was virtually hundred percent lock Brock was going to lose the match to Roman reigns. But now that Brock Lesnar has re-signed that pretty much changes the dynamics, it now has people more emotionally involved in the match. Now the match has people truly wondering who is going to be the winner Brock Lesnar or Roman reigns or maybe even money in the bank winner Seth Rollins somehow gets involved.

You got to give it to Vincent Kennedy McMahon when he truly wants something he gets it, and this was definitely a score for the WWE retaining Brock Lesnar. Also like I mentioned before triple H versus Sting that one should be pretty interesting match as well. Even though triple H hasn’t really been in the match for long time he can always bring it especially in WrestleMania. Now even though the WWE will make it seem like Sting hasn’t wrestled in multiple years that is not true because real wrestling fans has seen Sting wrestle in TNA. We all know that Sting can still go and when the man is excited and anxious to show his best he can go as good as anybody out there today even at his age.

Another match which is interesting to me is the Undertaker versus Bray Wyatt. For me overall the match is not super interesting to me in fact I would’ve preferred the undertaker versus Sting however I’m glad to see the undertaker after last year’s WrestleMania in which he took the beating from Brock Lesnar. I hope he appears more rejuvenated today and can put out a good performance as he has always done so before. But these are my picks for these matches triple H versus Sting: sting wins all the way, Brock Lesnar versus Roman reigns: I personally would like to see Brock destroy Roman and finally Undertaker versus Bray Wyatt: I hope undertaker takes him out: may he rest in peace!

The Man Known As Sting

First of all in today’s day and age there aren’t many wrestlers who have good natural born charisma let alone true great charisma, presence and talking skills. Then you have your specific wrestlers from the past who not only had charisma but in fact had a surplus. In no particular order you had guys like Hulk Hogan, Ric flair, the undertaker, the Wolfpack, Mr. perfect, Rick rude and of course the ultimate warrior just to name a few. Then you have someone who is not only great on the mic when he speaks but is even incredible when he doesn’t say a word. You might be wondering who that wrestler is.

Well that wrestler, that man is Sting. As a short recap when sting was a young wrestler he was your typical California beach body bad boy. Sting had it all the looks, the body the athleticism and he was good on the mic. Sting’s matches were incredibly entertaining to watch and his one-on-one matches with Ric flair are classics without a doubt. However in the later years when he became the dark crow he completely changed his style and personality. In is WCW days he became the crow and hardly spoke a word.

The man hardly spoke a word yet spoke volumes with just a look and a stare. The man spoke not a word yet could outshine other wrestlers who never found the time to shut up and listen to what they were saying and how they were saying it. Then there were his TNA years and quite frankly I like them too. Actually doesn’t matter where sting is he always delivers. Now even though the WWE will make believe he hasn’t wrestled in years he is now in this year’s WrestleMania against triple H. I’m pretty sure this is going be a great match because triple H can still bring it and so can Sting.

In fact am hoping this is not his last match hopefully can go for another couple of years and hopefully face the undertaker at some point, that would be a dream match for many people. I know I may sound like a Sting fan boy at the moment but you have to give credit where credit is due. After all these years Sting is in the WWE hasn’t even really spoke a word yet is heading to WrestleMania as one of its showcase matches. And I for one am pretty excited, hoping the brass in WWE DON’T MESS IT UP!

Lucha Libre Star Passes Away El Hijo del Perro Aguayo

Very sadly El Hijo del Perro Aguayo, who has also wrestled as Perro Aguayo Jr. passed away after a match for the CRASH promotion in Tijuana, Mexico last night; he was just 35. Perro Aguayo Jr. was working a match with Rey Mysterio, Tigre Uno and Manik On March 20, 2015 when the freak accident occurred.

Referenced From wikipedia.org “Death On March 20, 2015, Aguayo suffered a severe whiplash injury during a tag team match against Rey Mysterio Jr. and Xtreme Tiger with his partner Manik at a show in Tijuana, Baja California. After being attendeded to by EMTs, Aguayo was taken to the local Del Prado hospital, but was later pronounced dead in the early hours of March 21. According to the initial announcement from the hospital, Aguayo died from a cervical spine trauma, reportedly suffered as a result of a dropkick by Mysterio Jr. that propelled him forward and caused the ring ropes to snap his neck. At the time of the incident Aguayo was not immediately attended to by a physician and was actually taken from the ring on a piece of plywood instead of a stretcher, which lead to some criticism of the event organizers. The Tijuana wrestling commission later explained that the doctor was backstage, attending to two other injuries that happened during the show. One of those injuries was a spinal injury and they did not want to remove that wrestler from the stretcher he was on, which was why they used the plywood to move Aguayo from the ring. The doctors worked on resuscitating Aguayo for over an hour before declaring him dead.”

I am sure more information will come available has soon as some time has passed and everything is sorted out. The young man is dead now and there is nothing that will bring him back however hopefully the wrestling business can learn something from this to help prevent future accidents and help safeguard the workers. I am left to wonder what kind of impact this will leave on his fellow wrestlers in the ring that moment and god bless his family. Just for the record I have seen the video of his death and its quite sad to see, Just a warning. Perro Aguayo Jr., was one of the biggest stars in Mexican pro wrestling. Aguayo Jr., the son of Mexican wrestling legend Perro Aguayo, had been amongst the AAA’s top heels. Rey Mysterio was wrestling in his first AAA match since leaving behind the WWE.

Update: The Death of Perro Aguayo Jr. has now made the mainstream news here in the US.I wonder what impact it will have on people's views on wrestling in general.

Random Thoughts Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan had an incredible run as the WWE heavyweight champion and the yes movement. Even though I’ve never been a real big Daniel Bryan fan you have to give him a lot of credit. Unlike so many other athletes and people in general he maximized his opportunity until he unfortunately got hurt. In the wrestling business you usually work yourself up to a certain level and then typically compete and are utilized at that level for a while. Unfortunately for Daniel it seems like he’s been very much demoted since his injury to his neck.

The top brass at WWE now has him competing for the Intercontinental championship belt. So far I have read numerous theories, rumors and conspiracies about this. Some people say it is a form of punishment for him for going hurt in the first place. People say he works to stiff in the ring for his own good. There are rumors that certain people at the top management never liked him and are very happy to downgrade him as much as possible. Their feelings were such a small man in comparison to the other athletes can never truly be the face of a wrestling company especially in the WWE. It is said that Vince McMahon and triple H only want to truly promote big hulking bodybuilding type of wrestlers.

And according to this philosophy there is no chance in hell that a guy Daniel size could beat an athlete such as Brock Lesnar whatsoever. However the prevalent theory right now is that since he is not in the heavyweight picture anymore he is being used to elevate Intercontinental championship to a new level. Even so this might be true and like I said before I was never the biggest Daniel Bryan fan it’s still very weird seeing him involved in his current storyline.

It’s weird seeing him in the current storyline and I know he’s still living his dream wrestling in the biggest company in the world but it still seems like it should been put in a better position heading into WrestleMania this year. I truly believe this year the brass at WWE have completely messed up WrestleMania! The only thing appealing to me WrestleMania this year is Sting and triple h and if Brock Lesnar will be renewing his contract with the WWE or go back to mma.

Random Thoughts Of Roman Reigns

I’m sorry but I don’t care how many times you try to show how powerful Roman reigns supposedly is it’s not going to work. From this point on until WrestleMania you can shove him down my throat hundreds of times it’s not going to make a difference to me and to the people who are thinking alike. Roman reigns seems like a pretty cool and generally nice guy. However, having said that he most definitely should not be competing against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania this year for the heavyweight championship.

Yes he was great as a team member in the shield; actually he was pretty good not great. He was pretty good as the enforcer in the shield as a team member but in my opinion he wasn’t a great standout from the rest of the guys Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. Are any of the guys from the shield world championship material absolutely but not now further down the line. Is not a shot at any of the guys however throughout wrestling history the majority of the players need time to be groomed into that position of being the world champion and not just a champion but a believable champion more importantly.

In conclusion I believe none of the guys from the shield Roman, Seth and Dean are prepared enough to be world champion right now. They all need more experience and time in the ring to build their skill set and build up more charisma on the microphone in particular Roman.
What they did with Mark Henry this week on Smackdown I thought was horrible. They made Mark Henry seem like a chump just to try to put over Roman reigns yet again.

Wasting Wade Barrett

Honestly I have no idea what the WWE top brass are doing with Wade Barrett at the moment. I believe the WWE is completely wasting Wade talent, ability and natural charisma. Look I’m not that man’s biggest fan however he can wrestle, he has a good look and the man can talk on the microphone. In fact it seems almost like the man is being punished for something he is done to piss off Vince McMahon. In case you don’t know Vince McMahon is still the head honcho of the WWE regardless of what the storylines portray.

The man is tall and has a good look for wrestling even though I personally believe he lost little too much weight recently. When he was heavier he had more of an intimidating look, he now has more of a considerably slimmer appearance. Besides being tall and athletic he also has good charisma and presence on the microphone and in the ring. He was great as leader of the group nexus but now for some reason he is being used as a goofball. At the time of this post he has lost about four or five matches in a row and is being portrayed as a loser pretty much at the moment.

Like I said before I’m not a huge fan of bad news Barrett however he deserves to be used better he has the skills and the ability let him use them. Just let the man be the straight up bad ass like he was before he looks like a complete joke in the eyes of the wrestling fans. I am pretty sure if he was to be let go of the WWE for whatever reason other companies would surely sign him right away and actually use him to his full potential. He definitely will not make as much money but there is career satisfaction besides money.

Well in conclusion hopefully for the WWE and the fans this is only temporary and the company and start using Wade Barrett in a more appropriate fashion. By the way this current storyline with stolen intercontinental title belt is so stupid! You telling me those high paid writers can’t think of something better??? Sadly a couple of guys are in the same situation such as Curtis Axel but that’s a post for a other day.

Review WWE Pay-Per-View Fast Lane

Well this is my quick review of the WWE pay-per-view fast Lane which I saw yesterday. I didn’t find the pay-per-view to be all that entertaining at all. It was a mix of really boring matches and a couple of really good ones but nothing spectacular. However I think it makes sense because the WWE’s probably saving up the best matches for WrestleMania coming up in a few weeks. I found the Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan & Ryback VS Big Show, Kane & Seth Rollins match to be quite boring. I found the Stardust VS Goldust match to be just a repeat of the storyline that they done multiple times.

The Usos VS Tyson Kidd & Cesaro was a good match and glad to see the WWE E give Tyson Kidd a chance to run with it. Tyson Kidd can wrestle he just needs to find his niche same with Cesaro. But honestly Cesaro never really got me interested in him at all so far. Yes he’s a good wrestler and he’s strong but absolutely boring in personality. Paige VS Nikki Bella was fun to look at, end of story. Dean Ambrose VS Wade Barrett stupid match and I don’t know what the hell WWE is doing with Wade Barrett, such a waste of great talent.

Rusev VS John Cena okay match, just happy to see Cena lose for once even if it wasn’t cleanly. It’s always fun to look at Lana. Roman Reigns VS Daniel Bryan was a really good match; you can tell both of them were really going at it. It really did seem like each one was fighting for the chance to go to WrestleMania even though everybody knew that Roman Reigns was going to win regardless. Is Roman ready to be the WWE champion, well in my opinion not even close. However my opinion doesn’t matter it’s what Vince wants and Roman fits his mold.

As a side note one side of me really loved that Sting segment with Triple H however the over acting of Triple H with the bat just killed it for me. Triple H acted as if the bat was a machine gun and that kind of bad acting really ruins it for me. But regardless really cool see the Sting in action!

Wrestling Fans

Something I want to make clear right from the beginning is I am not a fan boy of any particular wrestling company whatsoever. I am a fan of wrestling in particular realistic straight up wrestling. Nevertheless back in the day I was a major WWF fan which is WWE now, however the company is very different today than when it started under Vincent Kennedy "Vince" McMahon’s father. Yes it’s true the company is way larger financially now than it was before however the wrestling presentation and storylines is vastly different. Concerning the format change from yesteryear onto today’s corporate world, the majority of his core audience views it as a negative.

Nevertheless like I said before I am a fan of wrestling and I still watch WWE programming every week is much as I can. At the time of this posting the WWE has three hours of Monday Night Raw programming and an additional two hours of Smackdown, which I end up fast forwarding through a lot. I try to fast-forward through the junk because five hours is a lot and I also watch TNA Impact wrestling as well and that is an additional two hours of programming. So as you can see in any given week I watch roughly over seven hours of professional wrestling programming.

Truthfully these days I use wrestling mostly as background noise as I do work on the computer and other things around the house. Having said that, whenever I see a good match occurring I will sit down and watch every second of the match. A great wrestling match with a good storyline to go with it can still thrill me. A great match with a good storyline is the complete deal however these days we are lucky to get one or the other. The bottom line is that I don’t want to sound like I hate today’s scene, smart wrestling fan or I am some kind of snob but I love decent wrestling and I don’t give dam what company provides it. God dam “it’s still real to me”, LoL just an inside joke.

Wrestling Companies WWE TNA ROH ECW WCW

I was wondering and thinking about what my first post on this blog was going to be about. There are literally thousands of different topics and subtopics about the wrestling business I could talk about and then it hit me. It is something I think about any time I read about the business of wrestling and read the various comments from countless wrestling fans on the Internet. It is something that has always bothered me, I consider myself very open-minded person yet still think’s logically and it makes no sense to me why people think like this.

I am referring to the notion that only the WWE should exist and everything else should just go out of business and just disappear from the wrestling landscape. The WWE truly have some fanatical fans of the company sometimes it seems even borderline obsessed fans. And many of them truly love wrestling and they happen to be very loyal to the WWE however they don’t seem to realize wrestling doesn’t just mean the WWE, especially these days. I never been a fanatic of any particular company, I follow wrestling and whoever has the best realest wrestling and that’s what I watch and enjoy the most.

There are many reasons why they shouldn’t be just one wrestling company, just right off the back in the United States that would be a monopoly and that’s illegal. In no particular order here are a couple other major reasons why we need multiple wrestling companies surviving and thriving. One of the most important reasons is competition, without competition people/organizations have a tendency to become complacent. And when people and companies become complacent their product and their services start to deteriorate. For example stupid bunny costumed wrestling matches coupled with horrible acted skits!

Another very important reason why competition is needed is because without other wrestling companies out there the wrestlers are trapped in one company with no other place to go to. Without the other wrestling companies the wrestlers chances of getting raises and another contract benefits are greatly reduced to them. If there is only one company hiring wrestlers then you have a situation where it’s either do it our way or hit the highway. People tend to forget because of the wrestling personas that many wrestlers have families and other loved ones to feed and support with their salaries.

Professional Wrestling Blog

I’ve always wanted to start a blog about professional wrestling. Professional wrestling has a very strong passionate fan base and most people either like it or they don’t. Hence, sometimes it’s hard to find people to talk about the inane things that occur in the wrestling world. Since I like blogging on all different types of topics I finally decided it was time to start a wrestling blog. Since I have some spare time now I thought it would be fun to have some smart conversations about wrestling and the business side of it as well.

Just to give you little background of myself I go back to the days of WWF where you clearly had good wrestlers/faces and the bad wrestlers/heels. Where in my opinion wrestling really mattered, matches really mattered and where the world championship belt actually meant something to the wrestling fans. And contrary to today you did not see the world champion on a regular basis hence it was always a special match/special event when the champion laced his boots to wrestle.

Also unlike today wrestlers stayed in character, it was encouraged and enforced. This helped create an atmosphere of realness tremendously with the wrestlers themselves and wrestling fans alike. There are still federations which follow the principle today however the biggest company in the wrestling business the WWE has become completely corporate. The business is always been about money but more so today, the realness and allure has been replaced with people wrestling in bunny rabbit costumes. True wrestling writers have been replaced with Hollywood/soap opera people.

Thankfully though the true spirit of professional wrestling can be found and seen through various channels such as online video, the Indies, international wrestling and various different wrestling federations out there. The one good thing about today’s market is there is pretty much a wrestling show for every kind of wrestling style available just need to know how to find it.
